(These pics are in no particular order just shows a ton of her sucking her thumb from the time she was a baby until now.)I have been dreading this moment from the day I saw that she was going to be a thumb sucker. I use to love to watch her suck her thumb... I thought it was the cutest thing ever. It went from just sucking the thumb,

To needing the blanket and the thumb, to wanting to pull MY hair while she sucked her thumb to discovering her hair when she sucked her thumb. At first I thought Yes I am off the hook. She won't need my hair anymore and then slowly I started noticing her hair was starting to get thinner on the one side of her head where she twirled her finger around it.

At that point I was thinking alright well we need to stop her from sucking it in public areas and not let her pull her hair out when she has it up in rubber bands...Well that wasn't hard to do we would just give her a friendly reminder not to suck her thumb while at church or anywhere else, and she would stop. Well then it just got worse. He hair turned to strings and it was just getting horrible.

I knew I needed to stop her but I just thought it was going to be too hard so I would come up with excuse after excuse as to why I couldn't do it right now. Then on Monday I, had, had it, I was finding chunks of hair all over the place. So I just said to her that night that she was done sucking her thumb and that she could have a reward if she stopped sucking her thumb after a week.

We are on day four of this and she has done awesome. What we have been doing is when she goes to bed we will just go in and remind her and praise her for not doing it. And during the day I will just constantly praise her and tell her how proud I am of her for not sucking her thumb and she will just get all giddy and excited that she has not been doing it. She has been proud of herself too.
The reward she wants is a new baby doll and skittles. Funny thing is...she wants to receive this baby doll at my moms' house and she wants the doll to be hiding and she wants to be able to find it. Too funny!

Anyway...I am SOOOO PROUD of her. I know it hasn't been easy for her, but she is doing it and it was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. I love you sweetheart and WAY TO GO!!!
